Birth to Three - Gently, Gently

£1.00

We all too often find ourselves telling children to be careful or gentle, but we don't often spend time developing touch. Being able to control hand pressure and touch is the start of developing good hand strength and co-ordination, and the beginning of fine motor control. These activities will develop these skills.

By creating opportunities for safe exploration of gentle touch and actively encouraging children to touch rather than telling them not to, we can help children develop their pressure sensitivity and care over touch. Thinking about touch and being gentle helps children to be considerate and to start to think about other people’s point of view so starting to develop these skills early is very beneficial indeed!
